The problem isn't that he's a movie star; we're getting equally stupid and obnoxious comments from politicians who started out as lawyers and MBAs.

I agree. Politicians don't have to have gotten their start in the movies to say stupid and offensive things. I was actually thinking of the unpleasant parallels between Schwarzenegger and Reagan. And the fact that at least lawyers and MBAs have done something beside flex their muscles for the camera to get where they are.

I think it was Piers Anthony (before Xanth went to his brain) who said we've never solved the problem of getting politicians who're good at the job instead of good at being elected
