Just sold my fifth short story, this one to Lovecraft's Weird Mysteries. Considering that I made my first sale less than a year ago, I can't help feeling that this is not so terribly shabby.

And [livejournal.com profile] heres_luck wanted me to say that she was the first to offer tangible--comestible, even--positive reinforcement, in the form of apricot twists. Yea, verily, she is a goddess.

Congratulations! From what I've heard about how hard it is to break into the short story market, five stories in a year?

*pauses to rearrange the letters of "not so terribly shabby" about until they read "damned impressive", forcibly squishing a few of them into shape*

(And I'm fairly certain that if I ever met Neil Gaiman in person, I would melt into a little pile of dorkiness on the spot. To be avoided. TNH is slightly easier because I could ask her why "annoyedly" and "frustratedly" are not words but "angrily" and "snippily" are. (Five geeks and a linguist failed to hash that one out, so we decided the question should be referred to a higher authority.))

Woo-hoo! Go you, with the utter fabulousness!

Mmmm...apricot twists. I think she must be goddess--how else to explain my love for the apricot twists despite the presence of coconut (which is on the renenet food disapproval list 99% of the time--a fact that predates the mixing bowl incident).

Yay! That's marvellous. I don't know when you're going to start getting complacent about it, because you have now sold exactly as many short stories as I have. (Well, if I don't count the one that didn't get paid for, which I don't.)

Well, if I only count the ones for which actual money has actually changed hands, this is #4. And I'm not complacent yet. Not even.
