Had a meeting with my dissertation director yesterday and the following conversation this morning.

HERE'S LUCK: So how'd it go?
TRUEPENNY: It was frustrating, upsetting, and depressing, but a success.
HERE'S LUCK: If that doesn't sum up the life of a graduate student, I don't know what does.

Am currently staring at the Hamlet chapter in a state of flat despair. Because the work it needs is tedious and soul-destroying, and my motivation seems to have taken off for Cuernavaca.

Bah.

Disney's making a movie of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Right now they say they're releasing it Christmas 2005. The fella that directed Shrek is signed to direct this.

That's really not promising.

Especially because it doesn't mention the earlier plans (don't know if it was the same guy or not) wherein Weta was going to do the effects. That was promising. The thought of a Disneyfied Narnia is not. Eep.
