Alas, I only taped the first half of HBO's adaptation, because I don't like the second half nearly as well (and the things I don't like are much more obvious on screen). It was quite a good adaptation, though; its flaws were mostly the flaws of the play.

Cott, Nancy F. The Bonds of Womanhood: "Woman's Sphere" in New England, 1780-1835.

Drool. Positively, I drool.

I feel that I should like Lilian Faderman, just because I should be Supporting What She's Doing, but honestly, she bores me to tears.

Haven't read Rowbotham yet. I should, I suppose.

Also, woot! MacDonald and Charteris.

Ooh! Ooh! R. Austin Freeman! I adore him and turned [livejournal.com profile] jonsinger on to him.

And Cyril Hare and E.C.R. Lorac!

I would be so _sunk_ if I lived near you.

I like Faderman - I thought it's a pity that Russ doesn't really engage her research in What Are We Fighting For? - I rather expected her to.
