Ophthalmologist's appointment this morning.

Those of you who were around for this thrilling event last year will recall that there are many reasons I dislike it. Today's movie was Charlotte's Web, which at least wasn't misogynistic or phallocentric, but made up for it by being the most bloody damn stupid thing it's ever been my misfortune to listen to while my eyes ooze slowly out of focus. And the voice acting is completely for crap. (Except for Dave Madden as the sheep.) We won't even talk about the alleged songs.

And then there's the dilating drops, which are supposed to last 3 to 5 hours, and in my case ... well, this is hour 7 and I'm still not quite back to normal. When I got home and looked in the mirror, I thought Wow, I look like a space alien. My irises had been entirely swallowed by my pupils. Which is kind of cool, but also definitely creepy. Not to mention uncomfortable.

So I took a nap and spent the afternoon watching Man from UNCLE (which doesn't require near as much focusing ability as reading and is splendidly, goofily distracting besides) and am doing much better now. Tho' still grumpy about it all.

This is kind of random, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only Bagheera fan out there. He was by far the best part of that movie (okay, the Beatles vultures were funny, too).

have you told them the dilation drops last much longer than they're supposed to? my opthamologist now gives me one drop per eye instead of two, and they're back to normal in 5 hours rather than 8+. they may also have a different dilation solution they can use.
