Evocative. Tantalizing. Thanks for the pointer.

Nicely haunting. I read this and thought I was going to go off and do other things, found myself rereading instead. Been thinking about it in odd moments ever since.

And I'm already fascinated by the whole question of what we do after the end of the world, making this doubly interesting to me. :-)

Wow. Just - wow.
Though, to expand, and thinking about my comments some while ago on minimalism that works and that doesn't: this is a hard, flame-like gem.

Delurking to say that is lovely and haunting. It's actually the first piece of your fiction that I've read, although I already expected to enjoy it from the book reviews you've posted here.

Found you through a link on janni's page that pointed out Straw. I like it very much. Found it raised questions on what the end of the world might be or not. Liked that you never know exactly what happened to the protagonist. Needed to read all the way through to see where you were going; you didn't telegraph your punches. I would like to read more of your stories, so I can see the world sideways some more.

This reminded me in some ways of the Ray Bradbury shorts, where a lot of the story is told by implication or description of something that is indirect but casts light on the main object by its existence.

Please keep writing. I know, in some ways that's like saying please keep breathing. :-)
