::waves delightedly::
Aug. 9th, 2004 07:20 amAs a welcome-back present to all of you, I offer this insane little verse which presented itself to me in a dream this morning.
A short, quick dick
A spurt of white,
Sweet lonely death,
Ahab's sex life.
A short, quick dick
A spurt of white,
Sweet lonely death,
Ahab's sex life.

Date: 2004-08-09 03:07 pm (UTC)I have had one previous efflorescence of dream poetry, this one in high school, which ran:
A little like a violin,
A little like a flute,
A little bit like neither,
And something like a boot.
Which I think has a fine, if rather weak, Carrollian ring to it.
He thought he saw a banker's clerk
Descending from a bus.
He looked again and found it was
A hippopotamus.
"If that should stay to dine," he said,
"there won't be much for us."
I can't quote Shakespeare for crap. Give me good doggerel any time. I have a particular weakness for Burma-Shave:
What is it with
This guy behind?
Is he lonesome
Or just blind?
If harmony
Is what you crave
Then get a tubba
Burma-Shave
(More Burma-Shave doggerels can be found here (http://www.fiftiesweb.com/burma1.htm).)
And, of course, Little (http://www.mudcat.org/kids/@displaysong.cfm?SongID=3650) Willies (http://www.deadlounge.com/offramp/willie.html):
Willie in a rage insane
Threw himself beneath a train
All were quite surprised to find
How it broadened Willie's mind.
Which is more answer than you remotely needed to your comment, but I got on a roll and couldn't stop.

OK, I loved the verse you repeated at the beginning of your post. But this one made me laugh out loud, wheezily, startled, like an internet cliché.
<3, as they say.
