truepenny: artist's rendering of Sidneyia inexpectans (fennec-hl)

Today, 1700 words or so, finishing a rough draft of a something-or-other. (I hope it's a story, but I'm not entirely sure.) I have exceeded my thousand-word quota, which makes me feel all smug and self-satisfied, even with the little voice in the back of my head pointing out that none of those words was on Kekropia wherein I am still stuck like a megatherium in a tar-pit.

But still. Something accomplished. And it helps balance out the disgruntledness of another rejection letter (making 4 turnips that I need to lob out again--I'm getting behind).

[livejournal.com profile] matociquala is reiterating a question asked by [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical, i.e., Why do you write? Which I think is a good question, and people come up with some very interesting answers. But I go to answer it, and there's no there there. I end up sitting like a clock half-struck.

I think I shall go eat lunch.

Aren't you glad there are people in the world who read the way you write? Fish, water? Cottleston Pie, even?
