Experts wonder how she can tell.

So, this morning, for perfectly good and valid reasons, I took a rising loaf of sourdough bread into the bathroom with me when I showered.

(Are anyone else's cats crazed sourdough-junkies, or is it just the ones in this house?)

The same loaf of bread, which came out of the oven in between the previous paragraph and this one, developed oven-spring in a bodacious my strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure way, and has just disassembled itself in its valiant attempts to thwart my efforts to get it out of the loaf pan. [livejournal.com profile] heres_luck and I are now eating it in chunks. And I have to say, even though I made it (and even though we have suffered a catastrophic structural integrity failure (to borrow [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel's phrasing)), it's awfully good.

Leaving for Minneapolis this afternoon. Another train journey. I am v. psyched. I feel somehow that splendid goofiness awaits.

How do you get from Madison to Minneapolis by train? I thought there wasn't an Amtrak station in Madison.

No, but there is one in Columbus, Wisconsin, which is not all that far.

Oh! Jasper is crazy for sourdough! Seriously, when I bring a fresh loaf into the house, I have to hide it. What a little glutton he is.
