I am:
William Gibson
The chief instigator of the "cyberpunk" wave of the 1980s, his razzle-dazzle futuristic intrigues were, for a while, the most imitated work in science fiction.

Which science fiction writer are you?

I'm not quite sure how I got William Gibson, but I'm cool with it.

About 2,000 words yesterday, making 3 days in a row that I've hit or exceeded my quota--not too shabby. I've managed to work myself back around to where I want to write EE because I want to read it. It isn't the only possible motivation to keep oneself slogging through the middle of the book, but it's one of the better ones.

I've also managed, despite obstruction from both WordPerfect and Windows, to get my macros imported from WP10 to WP12, which I am using on a trial basis with intent to buy.* When you've been fool enough to invent a language that uses a great many diacritical marks, customized kestroke macros are more important than you might otherwise believe.

*No, I don't want to hear about other word processors and how they don't suck as much as WP. I use WP because it does a specific thing that I need, and no other word processor does. Despite Corel's genius for shooting themselves in the goddamn foot, I'm sticking with them until either the ship goes down or they "improve" WP to the point that it doesn't do what I need anymore.

You won't hear anything about suckage from me, since I think WP is still, despite its flaws, a far superior product than friggin' Word. Gah. The only reason I ever use Word is when someone else sends me something I can't open without it.

No argument from me about WP. I'd still be using it if my company didn't give me FrameMaker for free.

Yup. It tickles me to be using a high-powered typesetting program for creating standard manuscript format.

Although you don't know me, and I read your journal having found it via [livejournal.com profile] matociquala, I just wanted you to know that I also use WP (I'm not sure which version, maybe WP9) and have no desire to change. You are not alone!

Few have had such broad commercial success with aggressively experimental prose techniques.

Um, yes, I liked my result.
