This is mostly just saying, yes, I'm here (or technically "there," at the moment, since I'm currently at home), yes, please come say hi even if I don't know who you are or you think I won't remember you (and maybe I won't, but who knows? we might be delightfully surprised).

About all I did yesterday was help set up the Tiptree Auction table for the Gathering and abscond with [livejournal.com profile] matociquala, [livejournal.com profile] oursin, [livejournal.com profile] valancy, and [livejournal.com profile] sosostris2012 to dinner: dinner is the plan, the plan is Laotian. We did discover on the way back to the hotel that a chorus of geeks performing "Jabberwocky" is a 1992 Saab is a thing of both beauty and weirdness, and therefore a joy forever.

And of course I admired all the shinies* at [livejournal.com profile] elisem's table. That would go without saying if I didn't want to encourage everyone else to go admire the shinies, and possibly buy some.

I'll be on two panels, both tomorrow (i.e., Sunday):

4 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.: "Rewrite" is a Four–Letter Word
Some folks actually enjoy rewriting; to others it is a painful chore. All agree it's necessary. What techniques, attitudes, and approaches can lessen the negative aspects and increase the effectiveness of rewriting?

M: Nisi Shawl, Justine Larbalestier, Laurie J. Marks, Sarah Monette

10 p.m. - 11:15 p.m.: Back to Basics: World Building
Let's talk about the world. SF&F as a genre is defined by worlds that differ from the present world. How is a world with depth and reality created? What makes a magic system or technology structure work?

M: Kristine Smith, Ellen Kushner, Sarah Monette

And I'm [livejournal.com profile] matociquala's second in The Campbell Affair (as I understand we're calling it since one of the principals objects to the word "smackdown"). Silly string at twenty paces, Elizabeth Bear and David Moles.

*UNGOLIANT: Want shiny.
MELKOR: Let's go get shiny.
FEANOR: I've made more shiny!
VALAR: Good, 'cos Melkor took ours. Can we have yours?
FEANOR: No! MY SHINIES! MINE!
VALAR: Aw, !&*()!@&)!(&.
MELKOR: Got the shinies!
UNGOLIANT: Not enough shiny. Want more shiny!
MELKOR: You can't have 'em.
UNGOLIANT: Grar.
MELKOR: Eeek! *runs*
FEANOR AND SONS: We're gettin' our shinies back. And YOU CAN'T HAVE 'EM, Valar!
MELKOR/MORGOTH: No you're not. *stabbity fiery burny death*
BEREN: Ooo! Pretty elf lady!
THINGOL: You can have her if you ... BRING ME A SHINY!

WisCon report! Thanks!

The rewrite panel is one I wouldn't mind hearing about later. I love rewriting.
