truepenny: artist's rendering of Sidneyia inexpectans (fennec)

Two of my three beautiful consumptives are either submitted or ready to be submitted on Monday. (I imagine them as Edwardian ladies in exquisite pale yellow dresses and enormous befeathered hats, clutching their artistically blood-spotted handkerchiefs, sitting gracefully on their steamer trunks at the train station.)

The third is being Camille all over the divan. And is going to have to wait until one of the sanitariums that take patients of its size has a free room.

It's a good thing it's only a metaphorical consumptive. Because the mood I'm in today, if I had Camille on my sofa, I'd probably smother her with a pillow and save the world a good deal of bother.

...Are these consumptive turnips? Their leaves trailing and wilting across the desk?

And, I really enjoyed Melusine and will write a review of it soon, promise.

I read Camille earlier this year. Wrong Dumas for me. I kept envisioning Porthos blowing up the wall of her room, striding through on his way to something else, sparing her only a glance.

I finished The Knight of Maison-Rouge this morning and went right on to Melusine. How's that for a relevant segue?
