Right now I hate the world.

My page-proofs are evil, my website is evil, my cats are evil, the gods of electricity hate me and my desk is evil to boot.

It's also Too. Damn. Sunny.

So. Please. Tell me something good.

I'm going to be seeing [livejournal.com profile] elisem, and I have good chocolate.

It's also Too. Damn. Sunny.

Eventually it will rain all over you.

(Did that help?)

My aunt sent me a get-well card which is a portion of a picture by Titian which shows some blue sky and some stars. Then she sent me an email saying she didn't mean it and I shouldn't be offended. So the card arrived and I rang her and asked what did she mean, because I thought it was a perfectly nice card, blue, you know, and she said "Seeing stars!"

And you're going to Duckon!

Your photograph is the lead one on Heather Corinna's author/artist headsnots photoset (http://www.flickr.com/photos/heathercorinna/sets/1078715/) on Flickr.

You might be able to get Pamela to yell at your electricity. She's got relevant experience, I hear. (Have you seen that LJ entry (http://pameladean.livejournal.com/21379.html) from a while back?)

I am amused by the typo. "Headsnots" indeed. I've had days when that felt like a good description of my sinuses.

Eep.
*blush*

Well, glad it's a giggle anyway.

It's still making me smile. I'm perfectly happy to give you credit for serendipitous humor, especially since it's helping make my workday easier.

Interesting that Truepenny is one of only about three people on Flickr that rates the tag "Smart Women" (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/smartwomen/)...

Sleep. Sleep is good. Sleep and dream of a torrent of rain and hail.

What is your icon quoting from?

I almost recognize it, and it's driving me nuts.

I just had to google for five minutes to find that this is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I've read that book fifteen times. Gah.

I got first pick out of the donut box today. Okay, maybe that's only good for me. :)

I am eating chicken tikka masala and the best rice ever from my very favorite Indian place.

And I didn't pick up my library books yesterday, so I get to pick them up today instead.

[identity profile] lilithsaintcrow.livejournal.com 2006-03-03 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You are not alone. I just got massive copyedits and it is sunny here too. So you have a companion in hate. *grin*

More good things: I get to have coffee soon, and I just finished knitting a sweater. My daughter gets to go to the library today. And it's Friday, which means kendo day. The DH will dress up with a lot of other people in skirts and bash everyone with a bamboo sword, which makes a satisfying thocking sound. Which I find very amusing.

Other good things: somewhere in the world right now, someone is learning to read. Also, the earth is whizzing through space debris as we speak, and miraculously not getting hit (much.) Coffee, dear sweet coffee, is available on most corners (at least where I live.) And last but not least, somewhere in the world a flower is blooming. ;)

1. Today is Friday.

2. Spring Training games are on television.

3. Girl Scout cookies are arriving to a coworker's office even now (where I can pick them up).

4. The crocus are crowning in my front yard, despite the ground still being totally froze. March marches onward!

It's snowing here. Fast, and thick. Does that help? *hugs*

It's extremely cloudy and grey in MN. I can wish that in your direction. You know I would be delighted to take the sunshine off your hands if I could!

Also, I'm having a very good day. And I'll have good news to share about it soon!

Rain

[identity profile] jodi-davis.livejournal.com 2006-03-03 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It rained yesterday - in the desert - which is pretty much the best rain ever.... well, tropical storms, when the air changes to a kind of pink and the air becomes water, those are good.

Green, the color green, any shade - very good, closely matched by yellow.

I'm letting my son go to a dance tonight - even though I just found out he's getting an F in English ('cause the little bastard likes to put a stake in my heart apparently) but it's a Sadie Hawkins dance and I couldn't ruin her day. I told him I'm going to be very linguistic with him later though. OK, that's not good - but I can tell it with some funny...

My dog is curled up on my feet, but since she weights 75 lbs, that's adorable - but with pins and needles in my toes.

ummm... good... I got a rejection yesterday - BUT! It didn't bother so much and it's already back out the door...

Oh, hey - I do website technical stuff for a living - if you want help - my email is on my lj profile page...

Today's Friday, and I don't have class on Friday.

Also, a replacement copy of my favorite game should be arriving in the mail Real Soon Now.

I loved Melusine, just purely loved it. Well, maybe not entirely purely. I couldn't put it down.

Outside my back door, on the tennis court, a tiny little girl in a bright yellow playsuit is playing with a shiny red ball bigger than her head.

I got a conference proposal accepted, on top of the virtual-conference paper I'm already (whinily) working on.

Because I am a hardheaded idiot I'm taking on one of the top names in my field in a no-holds-barred Open Access blog smackdown! (Hey, if I lose, I still get attention.)

A book my husband needs for his dissertation finally arrived via interlibrary loan today.

And he bought us The Dark Crystal on DVD.

The plum trees are blooming in pink and white outside, it is indeed far too bright but little puffy fat clouds are sailing by at a ridiculous rate (unstable air about to pour again) and inside, I'm looking at ridiculously huge purple, chocolate, and black lady slipper orchids that look like they ought to eat Seymour without warning him first. They span larger than the palm of your hand. There are six of these monsters on two stalks from a 4" pot, I kid you not. Since this is the first time I've had a lady slipper rebloom for me, I am absurdly pleased with them.
We also did with the help of friends find and rescue from a shelter the last of a deceased friend's strayed cats, and he's well along getting into shape to adopt him out properly.
In other news, well, meh--I've been out sick and people at work are not happy with me, and I will probably get my metaphorical pants kicked for stuff that other people refused to learn how to do when I was around to make it easier for them to learn.
I just wish I had good chocolate, sigh.
