It's always sobering to be reminded that an author at most any time could stumble across a comment that I make about his/her work, so I guess this author/reader thing can work both ways, at least in terms of peering through the looking glass?
I will admit some curiosity as to how my perceptions match up with your own, but that's just only natural, yes? :D As for different readers having different opinions, wouldn't you be scared if it all seemed to be the same, uniform response to your work?

I would, however, expect the next story to be equally uniformly loathed.
Because hubris always turns around and bites you on the ass.
