I'm most of the way through Chapter Eight, but progress is halted again because a secondary character needs a complete makeover.

As per usual when revising/editing my books, I am finding that the first few chapters have most of Teh Suck in them. I get better at it as I go along.

This puts me in mind of the allegedly common writerly error of starting the story too early, so that the editor then says, "Lose this first chapter and I think you may have something here". Or maybe of the way foxes are said to get rid of ticks and fleas.
