Chapter 7: 12,586 words

Chapters 1 through 7, cumulative: 84,662 words.

My metrics got off somewhere, so I don't think this is actually 15k more than I had a chapter later on the previous pass (Confused yet? Or shall I get Tom Lehrer to come sing about the New Math at you?), but still. Better hope there's some deadweight in Part Two, or things are going to get ugly.

I have a chain of six mosquito bites on the back of my left thigh, like Pacific atolls--because I am fair-skinned and have become appallingly sensitive to mosquito bites, so they look like a Dadaist interpretation of the Black Death. And with the itching. Don't forget the itching.

Rub an ice cube on them - should give you about 30-45 minutes respite at a time.

Old-fashioned Noxema cream can help as well. It's even better on chigger bites.

Do I relate! We've had a mosquito explosion here in England and my left thigh is about twice the size if my right thigh - I've reacted really badly to them. Bastards.

'of', not 'if'. See? It's spread to my brain.

Try some ice and/or some tea tree oil on the bites, and I hope they ease up soon. *hugs*

If you are not totally opposed/unable to use anti-histiamines, there's a spray-on Benadryl which I find works a treat on mosquito bites. We don't seem to have them much out here on the Left Coast but when I visit the family, OY!

All these things alleviate, but heat kills the itch toxin. Run your leg under hot water as hot as you can bear or slightly hotter.

Good luck cutting the deadwood, if there is any.
