I used to review, frequently, for an online ezine and one of the hysterical romances I reviewed was so historically incorrect (Saxon's having huge castles complete with secret passageways and torture chambers no less) that it correspondingly received a low rating.
The ezine was then innudated with emails from the author and her friends explaining that the book was fiction, and hence liberties were taken with the historical facts in the book. These liberties were unimportant because the book was worth at least a five (the highest ranking) if not more simply for the romance parts alone. These emails came with various descriptions of my ability and lack of credentials to reveiw. (I remained undeterred because Catherine Asaro praised me, in person, for my honest and down-to-earth assessments of all of my reveiws. So I stick to my laurels on that :))
As far as I could see no more books for this author were reviewed on this zine.
