Levenger do some gorgeous inks (http://www.levenger.com/PAGETEMPLATES/PRODUCT/Product.asp?Params=category=8-221|level=2-3|pageid=787|Special=featured|Link=Txt), which I use myself when I have the time. I must really remember to use those again soon! :)
I will post this elsewhere, but I should observe that Peartree Pen Company will sell you samples of any four different inks (from the hundred or so they have in their collection) for $1.75: http://peartreepens.blogspot.com/2006/08/try-before-you-buy-ink-samples-now.html#links

Some of the dark Noodler's greens look rather nice, too. And I notice my Noodler's Ink-filled pens do not dry out as fast as the Waterman-ink-filled pens.
I have just so far held out because I do not need more ink.
I am such a heathen. I use these Japanese Manga inking pens called Copic. I bow my head in shame that I find inks to be messy and irritating. Of course, I have three cats and a toddler, who all like to climb on my drawing board while I am working. this makes inks even less practable than ever. When I need brush strokes, I use a Sumi-e marker, also Japanese, and I haven't gotten around to translating the label yet. Piroshi-something. :P Angela, my sis and fav inker, has a whole box of the Levenger multi-colors that I got her for her b-day, she loves them, but I will submit to her the Noodler's link and report further, after she has sampled them.
I'm also fond of Private Reserve Ink (http://www.privatereserveink.com/colors.html): their plum is my favorite color forever amen, but the black cherry might be to your burgundy taste. And I think the Mont Blanc burgundy is quite nice.
I have a mostly-full bottle of Noodler's Marine green that I don't love. I anyone's interested, reply in my journal and we can work out my sending it when I'm back home in 2 weeks.
Perhaps I am just to reserved for this crowd. Or perhaps it is just my day job leaking into my alternate reality but I still like medium blue. I admit though being somewhat intrigued by the thought of a Mont Blanc Black Cherry. Hmmm....
Actually, all of those are probably fine, but there wasn't a clickybox for "She should ask the Lioness to find the great ink stash in the attics of Vorkosigan House of Lindenhouse, probably somewhere in the Velvet Room, which Mr. Ford caused to be bought when that nice stationer's store went out of business." If I find them, I could give you some or all of them. I know some were dark. I don't recall the brand(s), though.
The correct answer is A, C, E and F. For F, you should go on a quest for the perfect blue-black ink and possibly the perfect grey. But definitely the perfect blue-black, for it is archaic, elegant and very very dark. Unfortunately, I have yet to find the perfect blue-black, but I know Shaeffer's is Not It.
I'm rather fond of both Waterman's and Mont Blanc's blue-black, personally speaking. Though I also have a gorgeous dark red and peacock blue from Pergamos.
I put this in a comment thread, but Peartree Pen Company will sell sample vials (roughly enough to load a pen once) of any four inks that they sell for $1.75. (If you buy three inks from them, I think the samples are free.)
Someone else has mentioned Private Reserve (http://www.pendemonium.com/ink_private.htm) which is carried but not only Pendemonium, via that link, but also by the lovely folks at Swisher's--not only do they have spiffy colors, they have a kit so that you can mix your own, and waste lots of time.
Also, Noodler's Tienanmen has possibilities, if you don't mind having your page look as if you'd opened a vein.
Um. I have a bottle of Nightshade in my desk that I'm never going to use (not the color I thought it was, not blue-purple-purple enough) so if you like I can send it to you, given an address. Promise not to stalk.
