there's a guy been awake since the second world war

Chapter 11: 12,238 words

I think I may actually be getting tired enough to sleep. Which would be a great relief, because while the 2 and 4 hour insomnias are a pain, the white night insomnia is just pure hell.

Yes, I am intimately acquainted with my three species of native insomnia. Thanks so much, brain.

Sorry I wasn't around to entertain you...

Part of me wants to offer sympathy at this point, while another part is reacting by trying to scream UNCLEAN!UNCLEAN! and make aversion signs. Oddly enough, both these parts seem to be the insomniac part of me.

yay barenaked ladies!

I don't distinguish between durations of insomnias -- there's the hours-to-fall asleep type (a couple times this past week), the skipping-in-and-out-of-sleep type (once this week -- shudder), and the wake-too-early (not for a while -- though I did listen to great-horned owl for 15 minutes at 4:30 this morning). Sorry you have to deal with them.

As a fellow insomniac, I offer condolences. Sometimes I can stop an all-night insomnia by listening to Mahler's Fourth, but it's a toss-up--insomnia, or nightmares? Hm, you make the call.

Wishing you restful sleep, soon...

I used to lie awake worrying about my insomnia. And yes, I knew it was ridiculous.

Heh. I've done that.

I got enough

sleep this weekend and when I over sleep, I get what I call a sleep hangover. That's what my night has been, and I got nothing acomplished out of staying up. Sleep hangovers are worse then lack of sleep. Time for the graval tonight. Sigh.

As an insomniac, I have to ask: What are your three different types of insomnia? I'm especially intrigued by the "white night" version is.

Hm. I haven't classed my various insomnias. Well, that'll give me something to think about one sleepless night.
