truepenny: artist's rendering of Sidneyia inexpectans (porpentine: basic)

In case you were wondering, I am still revising The Mirador. My editor, who is merciful, gave me an extension. (A thing I never had to ask for in my career as a student, and am I having over-achiever guilt about it? Three guesses and the first two don't count.) I've caught several embarrassing continuity glitches, rewritten several bad segues, and cut several clunky paragraphs.

I'm also so bored I can't stand myself.

If you'd like to tell me something good, something interesting, something fun or funny or even peculiar, I would be very grateful.

Something interesting? Today I paid a Salvation Army man $10 to NOT ring his bell. He was IN Target shaking that thing, it had to be stopped! So our deal was $10 for him to not ring until I left. The moment I left, however, the ringing began again, and I heard it all the way until I reached my car.

Wonderful. I need to remember that; rhythmic clanging, even if it's soft (which those bells never are), gives me severe, persistent headaches. I ended up standing right next to a Salvation Army woman ringing her bell while waiting for my mom to pull up with the car. (We were loading groceries.) I gave her the evil eye the whole time - a bit mean of me, I suppose, but it was worth it to see her skip a ring every time she looked at me.

I like your method better, though.

Oh, believe me, this is not the first time I have done it. I refuse to shop with the monotonous clanging of those friggin' bells, so I have paid off those Salvation Army workers enough times to deserve a tax credit.
