courtesy of last night's dreams.

I don't think Sherwin-Williams actually has a paint color called Miskatonic, but if they do? Don't buy it.

Trust me on this one.

I picked up some paint chips just the other day, because I wanted to do something about the lower part of the stairwell walls and I don't seem to recall that color being on offer from any of the major brands. Unless maybe it's in the faux finishes section, which would make sense, what with the squamous and rugose thing, which could apply to some faux finishes that have Gone Wrong.
*pulls handful of chips from purse*
Um, if it says Arkham Collection on the back, should I worry?

That would be the colour from outer space, right?

The mind boggles.

Well, boggles, is unable to stand up under the crushing weight of the idea and crumbles into gibbering lunacy, same general principle.

So I shouldn't buy these (http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/poetry.html) either?

Wow, I have to order one of those, just to be able to say I own it. I'm thinking Shub-Niggurath perfume would be a lovely gift for my wife, a nice way to tell her I still lust after her in an unseemly, immoral manner.

I saw the "Shub-Niggurath perfume" and I thought, "Gee, that must be from BPAL." And I was right.

They have some incredibly awesome scents, particularly the Alice in Wonderland set.

Was that Miskatonic Dark or Miskatonic Bloody? I think Wal-Mart has a line of household linen coordinates for those.

Yeah, I imagine it would be a shame to go to all that trouble to round off all the corners in your house only to paint over it all with "Miskatonic" Gloss.

To be both totally random and completely off topic:

I have tracked you here through the clever use of the internet.

Wait, that makes me sound like a stalker.

Oh, well, anyway. I was at the library earlier and I was rummaging through the fantasy section and I came across this lovely little book entitled Mélusine. And I'm standing there eyeing it, taking careful note of the marked lack of female characters mentioned on the back, and the absolutely gorgeous half-naked man on the cover, and Jacqueline Carey's praise, and I'm going, "Gee, I bet this is just chock full of pretty boys molesting other pretty boys."

Far be it from me to deny my desire for pretty boys molesting other pretty boys, so I take it home with me, and immediately set aside the book I'm -already- reading (Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber, another favourite of mine) and here I am a couple of hours later, having to tear myself away from the book to come and track you down via the internet.

There are a million things I could say, from "YOU ROCK" to "I so love you for having the balls to write this" to "How do you feel about fanfiction?", but I think I shall leave all of that for later and say merely this:

I rarely buy books. I usually get them from the library, or borrow them from a friend, that sort of thing. Only when I consider the author (quite seriously) worthy of the money will I purchase the books.

First thing tomorrow I'm going to the bookstore for a copy. If I weren't a starving wanna-be artist myself I'd even lay out for the hardcover. That is how awed I am by this. I mostly just wanted to gush on you for being so kick-ass, and say that I'd added you, because there's nothing more wicked-cool than actually talking to people who've been published, who write about ritualistic rape that involves no females, and... well. I think I'll shut up now.

But you really do rock. Don't ever, ever let anyone dissuade you from writing this kind of stuff. The world needs more of it. Lots, lots more.

So, uh, yeah. Shutting up now. ^_^'''

P.S. Because I'm a dork, I made this icon. I hope you don't mind.

"..but if they do? Don't buy it."

Oh, thank you for that. Even though I was given some strange looks, it was good to laugh out loud at least once today.
