storySouth has posted their Notable (online) Short Stories of 2006. "A Light in Troy" is on the list, as is a story by [livejournal.com profile] desperance and one by [livejournal.com profile] kristine_smith and one by [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna and . . .

Lots of stories.

750 words today on Summerdown. I've been stuck for ages and ages, and I finally figured out it was because I'd sent the wrong character into the scene. (Yes, very like the Wrong Trousers.)

Also, since yesterday, a net gain of 1,780 words on a new short story. (I actually wrote more like 3,500 words, but half of them were wrong. I seem to be having that problem a lot.) I've been wanting to write this since WorldCon ([livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija, it's the LA cliché story), and yesterday it finally explained to me that it had to be in second person present tense. Which, you know, is one of those things I never intended to do, but there are things you can argue with your backbrain about, and then there are things you can't.

When I try to argue with my backbrain about voice, I am always wrong.

Er. Wow. "A Light in Troy" just kicked me in the chest, so hard. Wow. I hadn't read that before. Not sure I should have read it at work. But thank you. That was one amazing story.

Uh, thanks for pointing that out - I had brilliantly managed to read the list with interest and somehow miss my own story...

Second person present tense is the voice you should be writing the story in? Unusual, but kewl, 'cause you are an excellent writer!
