Help!

Persons living in and/or familiar with Los Angeles:

If someone were to get out of a cab just past the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, on Vine going north:

(a.) can a person actually get out of a cab there?
(b.) what stars would that person be most likely to find themselves standing on in the middle of a very tense discussion? As in It's a good thing you skipped dinner tonight, or there'd be puke all over your shoes and Mortimer's shoes and [blank]'s star.

ETA:The same information for stopping on Vine just south of the intersection with Hollywood would even more greatly be appreciated.

A million million thank yous!

Yes, you definitely can get out of a cab there. As for the stars, you can get addresses for some of the star locations here: http://www.seeing-stars.com/Immortalized/WalkOfFameStars.shtml

It looks like Jackie Gleason would be a safe bet.

Looks like the question's been answered, but I just wanted to add that people in L.A. tend not to use cabs (although tourists do, and that part of Hollywood is full of tourists). So if the characters in question are locals, it would be unlikely they'd be getting out of a cab. (Cabs are very expensive in L.A...)

(a.) I'm uncertain. I expect that you could, but I could be wrong, never having done it before.

(b.) You're looking at about 1700 Vine to 1750 Vine (Capitol Records tower), I guess, if it's just past the intersection. At 1750 Vine, you've got John Lennon and Garth Brooks, for example. The even numbers are what someone would be at if they got off while northbound, I'm pretty sure.

There are various directories that might be useful, such as this one (http://www.seeing-stars.com/Immortalized/WalkOfFameStars.shtml) or this one (www.hollywoodentertainer.com/stars/hollywood_s.htm) (which reveals that the Steve Miller Band has a star at 1750 Vine as well).

I don't know about the stars, but sure, you can exit a cab. It might be very congested, though, so you'd probably have to stuff money in the driver's hand and jump out, ie, there's unlikely to be anywhere free to legally park.

I am not positive, but I think you can see a giant tacky Godzilla on a roof from there, at the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum.

By the way, I used to live in that area, so if you have any more questions...
