Hello. I love Mildmay passionately and want him to be happy forever and ever and ever. I'm very comfortable with this character I've known for two books and I can almost predict what he'll say before I read the next line. And I also hate Felix and wish death and torture upon him, because he is an idiot dum-dum. I can't predict what he'll do, but then again, he's a troublemaker and unpredictable and stupid and did I mention I hate him?
I love how it's such a wonderful parallel between the brilliant, but emotionally (resisting the urge to put 'mentally') retarded Felix, and then the uneducated Mildmay who is so unselfishly caring and empathetic and who makes all the characters that are dull through Felix's POV (he's so self-centered) come to life. But I hate Felix. Half the book is Felix, you know, and the only reason I try not to skim over his parts is for plot purposes and those rare times when he's nice to Mildmay (or Gideon or anyone else, just when he acts human). Just--I mean, am I misunderstanding Felix in any way? The more I write out these thoughts the more he seems to make sense--I should hate him, shouldn't I? Explain, please. I love your books so much and I feel really privileged to be able to question them at all.
