Addendum to last time: aside from not being robust, Hellcat, after a while, dwindles to burnt sugar unless you get right up close. The Deep Ones, on the other hand, is like being mugged.

KUMIHO (A sharp, biting blend of crisp white tea and ginger.): Sharp and pleasant. It didn't smell like me, but I enjoyed it.

PRAGUE (Crocus with snowdrop and three lilies.): Floral like whoa. Not my thing.

CALIBAN (The scent of the salty seas, bittersweet wine, palm and tropical ferns.): Sweeter than I like, but interesting and enjoyable (briefly, anyway). The salt starts to come out after a while, and the souvenir de pineapple (it doesn't smell like pineapple, but it makes me think of pineapple) recedes.

OBLIVION (Dark musk, wood spice, labdanum, patchouli, dark African woods, and saffron.): BPAL lagniappe for the win. I didn't pick this one, but I would have if I'd known. Apparently, I really like patchouli. In Oblivion, the patchouli and cedar [ETA: I was on crack. There is no cedar in Oblivion] whatever it is that's somewhat astringent combine to make a dark, sharp scent that I am finding pretty darn addictive. Also it is a disturbing swamp green color in the vial and when first applied to one's skin.

Sin is still my #1, but Oblivion is definitely #2.

ETA: Sadly, the astringency fades first, and without it, Oblivion becomes rather sticky-sweet. I smell kind of like baklava. Which is a great smell for a dessert, a less good smell for my person.

I've got a hatbox full of imps dating back to when I first discovered BPAL (and had more disposable income ;) My Hellcat lid was defective, but I loved it while it lasted. If you liked that and Oblivion, you may want to grab an imp of Bastet in your next order ("Luxuriant amber, warm Egyptian musk, fierce saffron and soft myrrh, almond, cardamom and golden lotus.") I was a bit worried about the musk, because that often seems a bit too rank, but it's lovely. The cardamom and saffron give it this subtly exotic air without getting carried away, and the amber is BLISS!

My current theory about why Wicked smells like wet rubber on me is that it's the myrrh. So Bastet is unlikely to work. But thank you!

Well Wicked smells like burnt rubber and cheese on me and I don't generally get burnt rubber from myrrh (though I sometimes get soap if it's too strong) - personally I just think Wicked smells like ass, I don't personally know anyone who tried it and didn't make a weird little puckered "what the hell is this" face.

Arrgh I've been dying to try Oblivion. If you like patchouli a lot it would probably be worth tracking down an imp of Tarot: Judgment - it's very heavy on the patchouli and it's wonderfully soft and incensey. Probably my favorite bpal ever, which is really kind of a bitch considering it was just discontinued right before I discovered it. Sob.

Also? Scheherezade, if you've never tried it. I first fell in love with Judgment because Scheherezade was one of my favorites, and my first thought upon trying Judgment was, "It's like Scheherezade's beautiful and aggressive older brother!" And it's a hell of a lot easier to come by than Judgment, what with it being a GC and all.

You might consider trying Clio (Her scent is the warm, dry parchment of scrolls, lavender for critical thought and analysis, the solidity of heavy woods, ornery patchouli and glib benzoin, and superstar-splashed orange and amber.) I would never have picked it because I tend to dislike patchouli, but it smelled quite nice on me and never got too sweet or too anything, as far as I recall. I only wore it the once since it's more of a fall scent for me, but should pull it out again. Thank for the reminder!

I can highly recommend Les Fleurs du Mal, which smells like it reads. However I do NOT recommend spilling the entire imp on yourself while driving.
