[livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija is talking about PTSD, specifically with an eye to improving its representation in fiction.

[livejournal.com profile] elisem linked to Spamusement. We applaud the reappropriation of annoyance into humor. This one is my favorite.

via both [livejournal.com profile] oursin and [livejournal.com profile] matociquala: Zoe Williams on support undergarments: In short, just because you're a woman, and something makes you feel good, that doesn't necessarily add up to feminism - like pretty much every ideological structure apart from hedonism, feminism is slightly harder work than that.

Support undergarments make you feel good?? I can still almost hear my Granny's sigh of relief once she got her stays off.

Actually - yes, for some of us. If you are large-breasted, using a corset to cantilever the weight over your hips rather than a bra (which supports everything with the straps) makes a great deal of sense. Also, they're wonderful back support. The elastic bike-shorts thingies keep your thighs from chaffing, so you're kind of picking your discomforts there.

That Spamusement link doesn't seem to work, it just shows the html. I think there's something wrong with their site or something. I saw something similar on design observer the other day though -

"Every day for two and a half weeks this past spring, I decided to create a comic strip based on a spam text I received that day."
