So, for reasons known to no one (bad brain chemistry? bad conjunction of planets?) I am having a lousy day, with that special Eeyore kind of glumness that feels like standing up to your ankles in cold mud while rain drips down the back of your neck and you wait for the bus to take you to the first day back from Christmas vacation of your eighth grade year.

Yeah. That.

Ergo, I was doing, for my own dim entertainment, the meme that [livejournal.com profile] heresluck just posted about (Jungle Jim would be the name of my band, and the album would be Phone Calls Taper Off, in case you were wondering), and the quote up from the Johnny Carson quote that produced the album title was this:

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.
--Andy Warhol

And that is so goddamned true I had to post it.

You are my favorite porpentine.

So there.

She is my second-favorite porpentine, but only because the Obble is my first-favorite. So additional there.

Focus on the purple flowers, o fretful porpentine!

Phone Calls Taper Off is a pretty good album title, actually. I did a few more iterations of the meme and got some great results, though not all at once. The best combo was a band called Holly the Ghost with an album titled Telekinetics Raise My Hand; unfortunately the image did not live up to it.

Possibly we should form a band called Kittens With Balloons...

I know the feeling only too well. It seems to have been something about yesterday. Let's hope today is much better.

Apparently there was recalibrating during the night, for indeed, I am not at all Eeyorish this morning. You, I note from your post, are fierce.

Excellent.

You, I note from your post, are fierce.

I have been very productive as a result, and there are several smouldering bodies lying scattered across Folkestone!

Hmm. My bands are:

Hotel Majapahit
album title: "name will live forever"
(picture of dead leaves on a lake)

Gobowen Railway Station
album title: "out your front door"
(arty picture of half of a woman's face in shadow)

Modern Green Grammar
album title: "an exceptionally good liar"
(picture of a blue mountain over a rushing steelblue sea with dramatic skies)

Interesting. I like "phone calls taper off" better than mine, though.

Gobowen used to be my railway station when I was in school in Oswestry.

And now thinking about that, I have that up to the ankles in mud back to school feeling, which can only be cured by someone in Narnia blowing a horn. Blow, bugles, blow, I will come to rescue any fantasy world you like! Dear C.S. Lewis, you also had a rotten time in school, and maybe you would believe how the faintest echoes of the possibility of that horn kept me going.

Yay for the horn. Yay for the possibility of the horn, and the echoes thereof.

And that should have been Modern Greek Grammar, not Green. Oops.

You know, while Modern Greek Grammar isn't a bad band name, Modern Green Grammar is FULL OF AWESOME.

It really is pretty good. I almost never make jewelry from titles, as it prefers to happen the other way around, but as soon as I am finished with this second zombie rat necklace, I am going to ask the beads if some of them want to be Modern Green Grammar.

So I found and abandoned a copy-put-up-for-sale of Melusine at The Other Change of Hobbit while my friends were encouraging me to visit there. And I flirted with that copy for a little while and left it abandoned. Later I came back to buy it and found the book-Keeper's place was closed that day. I came back yet again with another friend, and bought that copy and took it home and read it.

And then the Obble made sure I could read The Virtu soon after I had finished reading Melusine.

And hey, presto! Look, another Sarah Monette fan is born!

You have an Obble too? Or is it a joint Obble? (See, this is what comes of me forgetting everybody's LJ handle.)
