I am chuckling ruefully because I am at work and not at all looking forward to the walk home.

Yes and no. Walking was a whole hellofa lot more work. Driving was...interesting.

Yes, best belov'd, and many of us are very grateful that you did make it home.
Your wet stuff must have been much colder than ours- we had lots of rain, followed by a couple of hours of falling slush. Would have made terrible walking!
