I couldn't agree more. There should be a lot more outrage about this than what I've seen.

Its so hard to fight this kind of thing. I am black so very rarely hear racist remarks. (people are much too careful) But I run into a similar issue when people say "that's so gay."
When I try to confront them about this and call them on being homophobic I either face derision myself or am told that its not homophobic at all. Its frustrating to explain the problem and often I feel I shouldn't have to but I guess they feel the same way.

I feel much the same...

every time I have to fight some ignorant child I've heard use the word "gay" to mean stupid, lame, or generally lacking. But, fight it I do. Nope, you can't have that word. That's OURS.

appalling but completely unsurprising. : - (

I give it 24 hours before it hits fandom wank - which could be a good thing.

(delurking briefly)

I sometimes read fandom wank, and my understanding is that they don't post about racism; they say it's never funny.

Oh hey Gannett - I think they might find racists wanky rather than racism funny, per se. But I could be wrong wrt Forbidden Subjects. zaf

On Totally Unrelated Note:

I saw you at Readercon! We talked about porn at you repeatedly. (And sometimes, the Death of Vegetables; and occasionally Signatures and an Excess of Books. It was all Capital.)

Thanks for reading "Elegy" to us--I had forgotten just how much I adored Booth. Or, I suppose, Kyle. :)
