Project Valkyrie was not exactly in abeyance while I was gone, as I kept up with [livejournal.com profile] matociquala all over Connecticut and also went to fall off perfectly good walls three times. But this was the first day back with the rowing machine.

TIME: 26 min.
DISTANCE: 3 mi.
TOTAL: 12.5
NOTES: Ow. Shin splints. Ow.
SHIRE-RECKONING: heading for Stock Road. Tomorrow maybe I get to begin to sing.

Today was the Kafka lecture, which was thought-provoking. Also, Professor Rabkin introduced me to this lovely and twisted reimagining of Don Quixote: "The Truth about Sancho Panza".

Ears (er, eyes) perking up: rowing machine? What sort? How often?

The Concept II (http://www.concept2.com) website has some good suggestions for training, if you want to vary things a bit. (Different intensities, rates, intervals, etc.)

It's a WaterRower (http://www.waterrower.com/?gclid=CMmujcOi6JQCFRdinAodE1rrQg). I'm trying for half an hour once a day.
