Avast, ye scurvy dogs! 'Tis International Talk Like A Pirate Day, and the cutthroat crew of Wired.Com has rare and wond'rous treasure to dangle before you. Behold, GeekDad reviews Fast Ships, Black Sails and provides a free download of "Boojum", a story about the love between a pirate and her ship, by those swashbuckling sisters of the seven seas, Elizabeth Bear and Sarah Monette.

Only a cross-eyed landlubber would pass up this chance for gold and glory!

Yar! By the flaming matches in Teach's Beard, I thank ye for this intelligence! May pieces of eight and glist'ning rubies rain 'pon you and your cohort!

I was tempted to see what sort of rhythm Pirate falls into. Offhand it has a sort of trochaic feel, but probably throws a few of those odd-numbered feet I could never get the hang of.

You can't be a pirate if you don't like stories.

As I said to Bear, thank you for the great story. I didn't know how badly I needed an injection of cool into my day until I read it. :D

Feel free to delete this, of course, if it's too spoilery, but...

I am in awe.

This is a story that involves space pirates! And brains in jars! And it wasn't silly!

How did you DO that?
