My brain informs me that

Don Henley's "I Will Not Go Quietly" (words) maps onto Los Lobos' "Two Janes" (melody).

The degree to which I did not need to know this can be inferred from the degree to which I felt it necessary to share.

Words cannot possibly express my heartfelt gratitude to you. Someday, i am sure, i will be able to render you an equal amount of joy.

I'm pleased to note I know neither of these songs. and seem therefore to be immune to this particular one.

I will however note that Blake's "Jerusalem" goes very nicely to the verses of "Yellow Submarine", and that the words to "Hello Mother Hello Father" fit the chorus of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and then exit with all due dispatch.

I don't know these either, but reading this has called up an ancient wyrm from my youth--the underdog theme, and the tarzan closing theme from the old Ron Ely show. Totally stuck in my head now.

Nobody but me will remember the theme, alas, and it's not on youtube, but there are plenty of clips of Tarzan getting tied up. Huh. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uQGdFUF6w8 for example).

I remember the theme. :)

We would have my brother sing/hum that theme while I sang the underdog theme, and it made a perfect counterpoint.

Ah, infant amusements.

Everyone already knows this, I'm sure, but the words and music for "Amazing Grace" and "Gilligan's Island" are interchangeable. (Also Emily Dickinson's "Because I Could Not Stop for Death")

You can sing pretty much anything by Emily Dickinson to "Amazing Grace." Or, more disturbingly, "Yankee Doodle Dandy."

And Emily maps onto "Yellow Rose of Texas."

You can also sing most of Tom Bombadil's dialogue to the tune of "Good King Wenceslas", and Kipling's "Law of the Jungle" to "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean."

And the verses (though not the refrain) of the old Cher song "Half-Breed" are in iambic pentameter.
