I have to admit, the Wii people did find one of my buttons: the sense of progress bestowed by unlocking new activties pleases me, even though I know I'm being manipulated.

For the record, I am holding Corambis in my hands right now, so at least one copy has made it to Australia. And now I have to go read it so I can have my breathing maybe even out some time in the next few hours.

I play World of Warcraft, a huge online rpg. They semi-recently implemented 'Achievements', which includes things like exploring every zone, emoting love at certain critters, or dungeon completions. You can earn titles, pets, or mounts from doing certain ones. You also earn achievement points, which so far serves no purpose. But damn if I want to get as much as them as possible.
