1. Am sitting up like real person today! This cold has totally kicked my ass.

2. It is not, however, swine flu (thanks for the thought, Bear). Had fortuitous doctor's appointment yesterday (scheduled weeks ago on account of getting prescriptions renewed, like a person does), and he said it's just a cold. Added that if it was swine flu, I'd feel like I'd been hit by a truck, and yeah. I only feel like I've been hit by a go-kart.

3. Apparently, "swine flu" is a phrase that attracts typos like honey attracts ants. I had both "swing flu" and "swine flue" in the previous paragraph.

4. Coughing is not romantic. Either that, or all those tubercular Victorian heroines knew something I don't.

5. Being sick is boring. Boring boring boring. And in conclusion, boring.

But I'm so glad that you're well enough to sit up.

It's kind of pathetic, how exciting it is.

More cough drops, check. 4,321 irradiated haggis, check.

'Fraid I can't do anything about the lack of servants, though.

Well, realistically, we don't have anywhere to put them, so it's probably just as well.

4. You have to do it daintily into an elaborate lace handkerchief. Did you remember the elaborate lace handkerchief, hmm, hmm?

Oh, and I think you have to distribute locks of your hair to all the servants as symbolism of your giving and righteous ways.

(Feel better!)

See, now you're just going to have to get better, then.

Does Swing Flu make you want to dance?

Like the rockin' pneumonia. Yes.

To cough romantically, you take a shallow breath and just cough lightly from your upper chest. You must cough into a lace handkerchief and be interestingly pale, or it won't work.

I can only say: "Get better soon!"
Oh! I can actually say "加油!!" too! See? My classes are paying off!
No, I'm not insulting you. It's a phrase to wish the best and encourage someone ^^

Please to feel better - it's summer, and no time for colds.

Sorry you're sick. I send you a virtual bowl of my special chicken soup and some virtual hot weather from Key West.
Maybe your spouse needs to make you a cup of tea and read you poetry. That once worked for me! (of course, I no longer have that spouse, but he can still be called upon to read me ee cummings when I need it)

Glad you are feeling a little better. Best wishes for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery.

Home remedy: put a slice of fresh ginger, a slice of lemon, and some honey in a cup. Pour in some boiling water. Drink.

I was off work with a cough a couple of weeks ago. I wish I had five quid for every time someone jokingly suggested it was swine flu. Oh chuckle, chuckle...

The first couple of days off sick is fine but after that, while obviously I'd rather be at home than at work, I'd rather be mobile at home.

Anyway glad to hear you are feeling better. Maybe next WisCon we'll have a chance to catch up a bit less briefly!

Glad you're feeling better. Hope the trend continues.:)

Just remember to open your swine flue or your swine fire will be smoky and terrible. ;)

Ow, that sounds like it's been one heck of a cold. Glad you are finally getting well.

FWIW, my Grampap's remedy: put a slug of whiskey and a spoonful of sugar into a cup, fill with boiling water, drink. Don't know if it *makes* you any better, but you sure *feel* better.
