Where I'll be in 2010

These are the events it looks like I'll be attending in 2010:

And I'll insert my usual disclaimer: I am very shy and very near-sighted, but that doesn't mean I don't want to talk to you! And I am always happy to sign things--as long as I'm not about to be late for a panel.

Um. It's for the Friends of the NIU Library/DeKalb Public Library book club, and I think they'll be discussing The Bone Key. It'll be in the evening on March 3. I don't know any more than that (Well-Prepared Author is well-prepared), but hopefully someone who does will comment and straighten us all out. *g*

Yeah, that's not too far from me either.

You keep mentioning Chicago-ish stuff and we read each other LJ's. Let me know if you want to try to carpool to this if it's appropriate to do so?

It looks like you could take 90/94 to 88, out to De Kalb. Want to discuss this via email?

At a minimum, I'll see you at WisCon and Fourth Street Fantasy; possibly also at Penguicon, if I manage to add that to my convention calendar. Yay!

Yay!

Department of hello visiting Tucson. The Festival of Books was a blast last year, and we're looking forward to this year's. Janni's taking part again.

(Won't be at WFC tho' -- we chose giving Sirens a try over it.)

Oh wow the Tucson Book Festival looks amazing, and within driving distance... but it would be an overstimulating nightmare for my autistic little guy. The attending author list had me slack-jawed in awe.

Yay! for Tucson festival of books. If possible, I would like to buy you lunch, dinner, drinks whatever.

Thank you! That's very kind of you.

I do not know what my plans look like at this juncture (the Tucson Festival of Books is part of a visit to [livejournal.com profile] coffeeem), but I will gratefully remember the offer.

Hooray WisCon! It's my first year going (and my first SFF con in almost a decade.)

I am very shy myself, so I will almost certainly never say hello. But glad to see you'll be there!

Woot to Arizona Cupcakecon! And maybe WFC!

YAY PENGUICON!

Hey look, WFC! I'll have to say hi at some point that weekend.

[identity profile] lindorm.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't be able to come to any of those events (me being in Sweden and the events being on the other side of the water), so I want'ed to take this opportunity to thank you for one of your books. If I'd met you I would've presented this slim, blue volume and asked for an autograph since I would've brought it just to find you.

I LOVE your The Bone Key! Absolutely love! Thank you for that sensitive, finely tuned portrait of a likeable but disturbed man in that setting. All that is good about Lovecrafts writing and none of the less savory parts of it. I've enjoyed it slowly so that it would last longer.

Thank you.

[identity profile] truepenny.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for telling me! And you're welcome. :)

(If you have not seen them already, there are two uncollected Booth stories in various places on the web: "The Replacement (http://www.sarahmonette.com/replacement.html)" and "White Charles (http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/monette_09_09/).")

[identity profile] lindorm.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Splendid! I'll try to save them for celebration of meeting my deadline. If I can... Saving them that is... =)

[identity profile] pixel39.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, crud. Fourth Street coincides with pre-existing plans. *pouts*

[identity profile] rarelylynne.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
There will be an updated announcement of your DeKalb event in the next couple of days. Link will be forwarded. I promise. Updating the website today/tomorrow.

Does "An Evening With Sarah Monette" sound okay?

[identity profile] truepenny.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it makes me feel a little pretentious, but I think that's probably my problem, not yours. *g*

Also, I tried to send you a headshot, but niu.edu rejected it as "unacceptable content." O.o It's this photo (http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/object3/1601/112/n49306962737_9646.jpg) if you want to just download it yourself.

[identity profile] rarelylynne.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll download it. Thanks. :-)

No pretention intended. It just sounded slightly less dirty than "Desserts on Sarah Monette" which was the original option.

[identity profile] truepenny.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
O.O

...

Yes, "An Evening with Sarah Monette" will be JUST FINE.

[identity profile] rarelylynne.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
ETA: ;-)

(KIDDING. Last event was called "Pizza with an Author"; you don't get more generic than that. If you have a suggestion for how you'd like to bill it, I'm ALL EARS.
