Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] papersky, for the heads up!

The nominees have been announced for the 2009 Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Awards. Many people I know should be congratulated on their nominations ([livejournal.com profile] matociquala, [livejournal.com profile] jimhines, [livejournal.com profile] coffeeem, [livejournal.com profile] oracne ...), but since this is my blog, I shall be utterly egotistical and only congratulate ME. Corambis is nominated in the Best Epic Fantasy category.

Since the competition in this category includes Jim Butcher and Brandon Sanderson, I don't expect to win, but the hoary old cliché about the honor being in the nomination happens to entirely true. And it makes me very happy.

(Psst. Congratulations to all the other nominees, those I know and those I don't.)

Congrats on the nomination!

Maybe we can have a virtual loser's party when the results come in? :-)

*g* I'm mostly amused by how many of the SF/F nominees archive at NIU. You would think that [livejournal.com profile] rarelylynne ran the awards. ;-)

Congratulations! Corambis is the only one of the Doctrine of Labyrinths that I haven't read yet. I'm anxiously waiting for the paperback to come out so I can read it.

I thought I pretty much hated Epic Fantasy, but since I loved the entire Doctrine of Labyrinths madly, with special roses tossed to both Corambis and The Mirador, I guess I don't. Congratulations!

Hey, my first body-of-work nomination! I guess that makes me a Grand Old Broad of fantasy, huh? (Cool!)

Congrats!

And, sidebar, Jim Butcher was nominated for Romantic Times? Surely not for Dresden?...nope, Codex Alera.

Still. RT stretches further than I thought.

The Romantic Times reviewers seem to scoff at genre boundaries. Which is something I like about them.

Yes, I think I like that about them, too. =)

Oh- what they said! Way cool and Congratulations.

And, I don't know anything about Brandon Sanderson, but judging by the little I have read by Jim Butcher- you totally kick his ass.
OK, I read one of the Dresden Files, which isn't what he got nominated for, and it wasn't bad, but 'Best epic Fantasy'? I don't know. Only if his other series is tons better.

Your characters have more depth, your world just sucks me in, and oh shoot, you just write better prose. Period.

Since the competition in this category includes Jim Butcher and Brandon Sanderson

Doesn't surprise me those two made the list, I've read all of their books. Still, I think it's only right that you made the list. Corambis was excellent fantasy. Congrats on the nomination :)
