4. This is a Trakehner stallion named Rubinesque *Pb*. I don't know who his rider is, or who the photographer is, but this is seriously one of the best portrait photos I think I've ever seen.

3 would be why in the secondary-world fantasy I've actually finished, the main protagonist comes from a culture that ride what are essentially a version of diatrymas (diatrymae?) that are 150% bigger in all dimensions (and squat to be mounted), views horses with suspicion and deep dislike, and mutters darkly about them being food animals where he comes from.

Horses seems to me to be like guns or the First USAn Civil War; either you are one of the tribe who Gets It, or you can never do enough research, full stop.
