North American House Hippo

While we're waiting to get socked in the face by the snowstorm currently working its way across Wisconsin, have this lovely mini-documentary (via [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel) about the North American House Hippo.

That's an old favourite of mine. It actually aired regularly when I lived in Canada.

You could always have Jessica the Hippo in your house.

You know, I immediately thought that Jessica's people must have moved to North America when I first saw the title of the post.

That was cute and well done! I giggled.

I want house hippos. Maybe they could keep the squirrels out of our attic. I'd settle for snow....

I harbor a mad affection for the house hippos, and want one desperately. Friends blamed many odd happenings at their house on house elephants, inhabiting roughly the same niche, that they developed on their own.
