Giuseppe Bastianini, the Foreign Undersecretary, said to Mussolini at a meeting of the Grand Council, "Ideas are not canaries to be kept in a cage" (Deakin 448). There's a line that belongs in blank verse.

(I suspect The Fall of Mussolini is behaving as displacement activity from the novel revisions I can't get a grip on. But it's also just nuts how readily the subject matter lends itself to the form.)

You could write it and they'd read it at Fourth Street.

OT, but nice...

I recently pressed Melusine into my sister's hands. She devoured it, and demanded the rest of The Doctrine of Labyrinths, because my library is her library. I complied, and she told me yesterday that her heart has been thumping madly as she accompanies Felix and Mildmay along their journey. "What else has she written?", she demanded. So you have a rabid new fan, a 70-year-old voracious reader who is quite likely to infect an entire chain of others of like kind. Now to get my neices infected.
