My LiveJournal Sitcom
Living novels (TBS, 3:00): truepenny (Sammy Davis Jr.) gets a job as secretary to oursin (Garry Shandling). In the next town over, misia (Viggo Mortensen) claims to be rysmiel (Mae West) in a job interview. Also, matociquala (Bonnie Hunt) lets marith (Mickey Rourke) borrow a teabag to impress a sister. Soon afterwards, pameladean (James Doohan) keeps accidentally stepping on renenet (Abe Vigoda)'s foot. Upstairs, oracne (Tim Robbins) hires jonsinger (Gary Cooper) to perform pantomime at the dump. Zany antics ensue.

I get zany antics! I'm so psyched!

Henry James, in a letter to Grace Norton, 1887:
Let us be flexible, dear Grace, let us be flexible! And even if we don't reach the sun, we shall at least have been up in a balloon.

James was a fussy, egotistical, snobbish, strait-laced person, but at moments such as this I like him quite a lot.

I have triumphed against the forces of inertia, entropy, and the natural perversity of all things.

DESPITE the continuing pain in hands and wrists and DESPITE my printer cartridge running out of ink and DESPITE not having a spare (when I always have a spare) and DESPITE it necessitating a half-hour drive to get a new one and DESPITE the first place I went being out of the cartridge I needed and DESPITE the cartridges being exceptionally well-hidden in the second place I went and DESPITE my printer trying to eat the paper and DESPITE my own laziness and DESPITE rush-hour traffic and DESPITE the twenty minute line at the post office ...

I have lobbed out FOUR (count 'em, 4!) turnips. With a fifth ready to go out as soon as the reading period for the particular market starts on Sept. 1st.

I feel incrediby smug and virtuous.

And now, of course, my brain is singing, Alchemy and Argosy / Work together in perfect harmony. Because it is sick and twisted like that.

Chapter Nine of emperor is finished, clocking in at 2,492 words. And I know what happens next; I just need a transition.

I hate transitions. I hate them in my academic writing, and I hate them in my fiction. I've gotten better at them with practice, but that's not the same as being able to toss them off lightly, tra-la. They are the bane of my existence.

Going to stop typing and rest hands now.
