Y'all must be out of your ever-lovin' minds. That's all I'm saying.

(And Friday the Thirteenth came on a Saturday this month.)

I would be very pleased and grateful if you'd drop me a line in the comments thread to this post. Tell me something about yourself or something about why you read this LJ. Please. I cannot possibly add you all to my reading list, but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in who you are and what you're thinking.

You're interesting and you talk about books. :) I found you through Melymbrosia some time ago when I was looking for book lovers.

Same here. I can never get enough book talk.

I saw you mentioned a lot on [livejournal.com profile] matiociquala's corner of livejournal, and every time I clicked over, I enjoyed reading what you wrote. Plus, your bio is hilarious. I don't know why you poke moles with spoons, and I guess I'm just trying to figure it out. :)

As for me, I work in an academic library, which leads to many comic situations I cannot relate openly, and I'm a very freshman writer, which leads to many situations less entertaining, which I kvetch about often.

I read this lj because I find it interesting (in part, though not completely, because I want to be a writer).

Something about myself? Hmmm ... well, I have a weakness for young adult books and comics.

You write well. You're part of what I think of as the writing discussion group, with [livejournal.com profile] papersky and [livejournal.com profile] matociquala, and you’re good enough to fit in.

I found myself following links from the flist to your LJ regularly enough to make it more sensible to have you flisted. I enjoy your meta, mostly.

I'm a multi-fandom fan and keenly appreciate your interest list. You won't find my LJ interesting at the moment as it is almost all about pop fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] papersky recommended your posts on The Dark is Rising, and I very much enjoyed them. We share a lot of the same interests, and I found your other posts fun to read as well, so I added you to my friendslist. As for me, I'm an Irish academic, live in Dublin and am controlled by cats.

Similar to [livejournal.com profile] copracat, really; I was following links from my friends list to great posts of yours so often that it made a lot more sense to friend you myself. It's probably [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel's fault originally.

I read you because you provide a lot of insight into stuff that interests me, and / or that people dear to me care about, but that I know little about myself. Such as writing, and literature, and fandom. And because you post the most interesting memes, and because you seem to attract really exciting discussion in your comments. And apart from that, I'd read your journal for the Dorothy L Sayers analyses alone.

About me? I'm a science PhD student trying to use some of my thesis displacement time to keep in touch with the rest of culture that doesn't revolve around p53. I really appreciate that your journal exists, it's so scholarly and so readable, and thanks for all the effort you put into it.

That, exactly (except for the part about it being [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel's fault). Just replace p53 with CRT, and you've got me and why I have this journal friended in a nutshell.

I think I started reading your journal because papersky recommended your posts on Narnia, Susan Cooper, or Dorothy Sayers. (Write more posts like that!) And even when you're not writing in such delicious detail, you always have something interesting to say. Plus you often remind me why, although I enjoyed grad school, I'm glad I'm not there now.

I was one of the people who answered your question about martial arts, though I think that was before I acquired my own journal. Mine is mostly about books, karate, my dysfuctional family, and the process of taking a book from sale to publication. (I just sold my first book, a memoir about how my insane hippie parents raised me in a bizarre ashram in India where I was the only foreign child in the entire town.)

A while back, that interview meme was going around and I asked a few people what person on their list that they read that I ought to, and your name came up. I can't even tell you who that was now!

I'm a data geek wanna be epidemiologist who is putting off going back to school. I read a lot.

When I started my own LiveJournal, you were one of the people [livejournal.com profile] papersky recommended as being interesting to read. Which you are. Also, as my husband in doing a Ph.D. at present, I'm fully aware how much work they involve and I'm rooting for you to complete the diss successfully.

As for me, I teach adults to use computers and I write fiction. Also I'm in the process of applying to do an MA in Creative Writing (part time via distance learning). You'd probably find my LJ mostly boring as a lot of it is just about mundane life. But I also write about writing. Sometimes.

Like reading. Like writing. And am struggling through 2 Ph.D. programmes at the same time.

So your stuff strikes a chord with me, to put it mildly.

You came recommended by 1crowdedhour when I was searching for writers, and I liked your style/posts. I am currently working on a fantasy novel, having survived Clarion West and sold a few short stories (both too many years ago). After spending many years playing in media fandom, am now trying to focus more on pro writing again. Hail from Seattle. Own wiener dogs. Tidy up garden as needed. Talk to myself. Dilettante painter and lousy pianist. Am mostly harmless. Thank you kindly for asking, and do please keep up the very fine work.

I began reading your journal because of your reviews of the Wimsey novels. Then I found all the Narnia stuff, and I decided you'd make my f'list all intellectual.

Because you have a cuddly Cthulhu
Because you have Venus Flytrap called Audrey
Because I still have fond memories of your Drusilla icon, and that's my mental picture of you.
Because you not only say clever things, you say them well and often with humour.
Because, well, you're just a joy to read.

I can raise one eyebrow because I had a crush on Mr. Spock when I was 10, and I can do it several times in quick succession because I had a crush on Harold from Harold and Maude when I was 13.

Periodically, I look at the friends lists of people whom I admire and who have short lists. Anyone whose last post was sufficiently interesting gets added to my own friends list. I'm especially partial to anyone who sounds smarter than I do: I'm always looking for fresh brains to suck... err... I mean intellectual stimulation, of course.

My own lj may be of limited interest as it currently contains a lot of purple prose about loving Japan and missing Swarthmore and an abominable fanfic of a Michael Crichton book. (I do embrace our friend the cut tag though.)

I read you because you write about writing in ways that make me think. Also, because I'm long enough out of grad school I can read about it and not wince but not so long that I can't sympathize. I write mostly narrative poems I peddle as short stories, with occasional success.

My own journal is mostly bits of linkage collected while puttering. Nothing lifelike.

I found you through [livejournal.com profile] melymbrosia last fall, when I was considering applying to doctoral English programs. Your dissertation updates hooked me. I ended up applying to MFA programs instead, but I've stuck around because I enjoy your content, whether it's scholarly, writing-related, or fannish.
