Real-world, it has no derivation. It's a word I made up for the ancesteor of the ancestor of this story when I was in high school, and I've just kept it all this time. If there was a logic to it, I've long since forgotten what it was.
Read it, loved it. I'll probably read it again tomorrow for more of a technical "how'd she do that" reading.
Thanks for putting up the calendar on your website, too. I hate not knowing all about everything I read and I just couldn't make heads or tails of it on my own.
