Help!
Persons living in and/or familiar with Los Angeles:
If someone were to get out of a cab just past the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, on Vine going north:
(a.) can a person actually get out of a cab there?
(b.) what stars would that person be most likely to find themselves standing on in the middle of a very tense discussion? As in It's a good thing you skipped dinner tonight, or there'd be puke all over your shoes and Mortimer's shoes and [blank]'s star.
ETA:The same information for stopping on Vine just south of the intersection with Hollywood would even more greatly be appreciated.
A million million thank yous!

(Anonymous) 2007-05-11 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)One can definitely disembark wherever one chooses in the vicinity of that intersection, though there is sometimes scaffolding (like in real cities!!) blocking direct access to the sidewalk, depending on what rehab/redevelopment projects are taking place in the various buildings. The Pantages theater is also right down Hollywood to the East, so there are frequently enormous hordes of pedestrians around on performance nights.
There is also a Metro stop that is officially at H'wd and Vine, though it's actually a 1/4 block or so away.
If no one has answered the star question satisfactorily before then, I'll look at the sidewalk when I go to the farmer's mkt this Sunday and report back.

Hmm, I live on the east side and I don't know anybody who uses cabs. Maybe my friends and I are a little too far east (Silver Lake/Echo Park) for it to be affordable.
It's not so much that cabs are expensive relative to other cities in terms of the actual *rates*, it's that the mileage covered is so much greater.

(Anonymous) 2007-05-12 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)I live in Los Feliz- it's about $13 including tip for me to go to the Arclight/Hungry Cat at Sunset and Vine for the night- and acrually about the same to get dropped off downtown.
I often take cabs to parties in SL/EP as well, since the parking in the hills is so wretched... it's usually $6-8.
All in all, a much better deal than a potential DUI!

Definitely! I wish more people in the area were that sensible!
