More accurately, of course, I am here.

75,820 words of Summerdown written. 99,180 words to go. 62 days to write them in. I need 1,600 words a day now, instead of 1,500.

I do not, however, regret Wiscon. Nor will I regret going bookgeeking with brisingamen and peake tomorrow. This (the before, during, and aftermath of Wiscon) is the one chance I have most years to talk f2f with a number of friends I love, and I would not swap it for the world.

I also need to check the page proofs of "Three Letters" for So Fey, and write an introduction for The Bone Key (600 words, give or take, of which I have 515 with which I am not satisfied). Oh, and an acceptance speech, so that in the unlikely event I win the Campbell, marykaykare will not be forced to adlib.

Snake Agent is *really* good. And dang it! I just bought both Vellum and Ink. If i'd known the US editions were effed up I'd have bought the UK editions in Montreal. How badly did they get messed with, do you know?

I have UK copies of Hogfather and The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett, and in those books the single quote and double quote rules seemed to be reversed. Is that a common thing in UK books?

I crashed this afternoon for a 2+ hr nap, as well. now I'm propped up on the couch with pillows in hopes that if my head is vertical my brain will behave. *grimace* this morning at preschool camp the kids were gleefully stomping and banging instruments (as, indeed, we direct them to do every day), and I got through it by running a countdown. but Wiscon was totally worth it!

it was great to meet you, and spend time with you all! ^_^ I've been hoping to go to World Fantasy this fall, but the combination of a. rustling up the money and b. finding a place to stay before the whole town sells out makes it a bit daunting.

I read Portable Childhoods before, during, and after Wiscon, finishing it on the plane home. First I liked the fish story best. Then I liked the taste of summer one best. And I ended up liking the title story the very best. I laughed out loud twice while reading that one, making the guy in the middle seat try to inch away from me. The collection as a whole was immensely cheering as I have a lack of plot problem myself.

I brought home a huge stack of stuff I'm eager to read, but waiting for me at home were my copies of New Amsterdam and Water Magic. I started the latter today. It does not suffer from lack of plot.

You might want to watch your journal carefully for a bit. Since your fiction does include a bit of healthy brother-cest, even though you don't have it in your interests, be on the lookout for the Great Strikethrough.
