(The book I am reading right now (Unanswered Questions: Nazi Germany and the Genocide of the Jews, ed. François Furet, [L'allemagne nazie et le génocide juif, 1985] NY: Schocken Books, 1989) is a mixed bag as far as the content goes, but the editing is lousy and the translation (from the original French publication) is sometimes, as above, distinctly wonky.)

Date: 2009-01-06 12:06 pm (UTC)That's fair enough. I'd recc 'The Drowned and the Saved' by Primo Levi is you want a good eyewitness account. Borowski's 'This Way to the Gas Ladies and Gentlemen' is also amazing for the sheer 'oh god no' factor.
