Miéville, China. The City & the City. New York: Del Rey-Ballantine Books, 2009.

I don't have much to say beyond OMG WOW. I found The City & the City both brilliant and readable; other readers, of course, may not find it to be either of those things.

Oh! I had seen that book mentioned, then forgot that it was out. Now I know what to do with the bookstore gift card someone gave me. China Miéville is one of the very few authors who can turn me into a shameless fangirl.

I'm with you... I adored it and have begun hand-pimping it by loaning out my copy to friends. Even as fast as my friends read, I'm beginning to think I should have bought extras.

I loved that book. It's just...yeah, brilliant. And marvelous at working the world-building into the flow of the story.

I couldn't get through Iron Council, so I'd been sheering off buying City & the City, but maybe I should try to find it.

Right there with you, and I was unable to finish Perdido Street Station (though I did like The Scar, so I've been meaning to try again). But this one blew me away.

Damn, I skipped over that for Jay Lake's "Green" at the store last week. I'll have to go back and pick it up, then.

I loved this book so much I had a weird dual-city dream after I finished it. So good!

Have I mentioned before that my dream novel is your characters in a China Miéville World with a Patrick Rothfuss plot? That would be the most amazing thing ever.
