DO NOT WANT

Okay, Mirena.

While I appreciate the dramatically reduced menstrual flow, the REASON you're lurking up there is to deal with these ever-fucking menstrual cramps. Being woken up at 5:30 A.M. by random, vicious cramping is NOT ON.

Get with the program.

No love,
Mole

The severe backache I woke up with, as well as the preceding week's depression, waves bitterly at your cramps.

I CAN HAZ MENOPAUSE NAO PLZ?

ANY TIME NOW. SRSLY.

I, too, am praying for menopause NOW. I'm over 50; it's due.

I had a couple weeks of really really unpleasant cramps, and then random surprise cramps, and eventually they all went away...I hope yours go away soon!

I do too--thank you!

Under the circumstances, it's never not hot toddy time. It's medicinal.

Besides, it's after five o'clock somewhere.

THIS is what I love about being post menopausal. No cramps. No menstrual flow.

I was dreading the hot flashes, sweats, etc, but they were small potatoes when placed next to decades of miserable cramps. And for me they were over in less than a decade!

You have something to anticipate.

Sympathies. When I first went on Depo-Provera, which has more or less the same drug as Mirena, I had a few instances of random bad cramps from nowhere (like, not as part of a real cycle). Then the whole system just shut down, yay. Hopefully the same thing will happen for you--a lot of women on Mirena don't get any periods.

Muscle relaxers can help, if you happen to have any lying around--I used to take flexiril and lo, it was good. Those will totally screw your productivity, however.

That is discouraging. I really am sorry. One possibly helpful thing I can suggest, is that I found an old-fashioned hot water bottle to be somehow more comforting than a heating pad. Wrapped in a towel to begin with if you've got the water very hot.

My cramps are actually in my lower back, so a hot water bottle would result in even worse posture than usual. But thank you!
