I hate to do this, but I have had enough of the freaking endless spam that now infests LiveJournal. I have turned off anonymous comments.

To all of you who do not have a LiveJournal and who have commented on my blog, I'm sorry. Please believe, this is not about you and not caused by anything you did. It's about the bloody spam.

You don't have to have a LiveJournal. You can also comment using a Facebook, Twitter, Google, or OpenID account.

I'm still patiently deleting, but then, I don't get more than a handful a week. If it gets worse, though, I shall probably follow your lead. *sigh*

logging IP is worth it, if it cuts some of the weeds.

I've long ago turned off the anonymous comments; I'm here on LJ seldom anymore, and having screened anon comments that I can just delete when they're spam is SO much nicer all around.
I mean, the one I deleted today was from a grout cleaner sales rep. SRSLY?!

What I've been getting lately is spammers leaving comments.. .then deleting them. So, when I go to LJ, there's nothing to report as spam.

I've been getting a huge amount of spam as well, with no way of reporting it as spam, just of deleting it. Which is weird, because I used to have that option.

There are people I know IRL who don't have LJs who read my LJ, but tough cookies. There's a bunch of different ways they can sign in, including getting a free & easy LJ account. The spam management is ridiculous, even with a captcha in place. :/
