The albino bristlenose plecostomus, who killed every tank mate he had and thus was clearly an Evil Albino, died sometime last night. For all that he was the psychopath of the Ancistrus world, I was fond of him, and I hope tiny algae-eating albino fish go somewhere really awesome after they die. In his case, I hope he gets to turn into the dragon he always wanted to be.

Boy is it quiet in here without the aquarium going.

Swollen!Pleco is distinctly less swollen this morning. Haven't the first clue as to why--the only thing I did was give them some bits of green bean last night, and I couldn't even prove, if asked, that either of them ate any of it. Still baffled (and prepared for this to be merely a fluke), but pleased.

This morning, my albino bristlenose plecostomus is, unambiguously, dead.

I don't know what killed it. It seemed fine yesterday, and the heater was doing its job today. But the pleco tucked itself down between the potted sagittaria and the aquarium wall and died.

I am, perhaps disproportionately, sad.

So, for reasons that do not need exploring at this juncture, I had to charge the camera batteries and take some pictures this morning. And while I was at it, I thought I'd take some (very bad) pictures of the albino bristlenose plecostomus who joined the household on Saturday.

This is a seriously awesome fish, people. My crappy pictures do not do it justice.

(Of the four small household predators, only Catzilla has actually noticed the pleco; he is baffled as to why he can SEE it but not REACH it, but does not find it particularly enthralling. Which is just as well.)
