This? Is amazing.

2. It's John M. Ford's birthday. Mike, wherever you are, I hope your birthday celebration is epic.

3. My gratitude. To everyone who reads my books. Everyone who buys a copy. Everyone who checks a copy out of the library. To everyone who blogs about my books or reviews them. Even if your review isn't positive, you're still taking the time to talk about my books, and I appreciate that. To every librarian who gets his/her library to buy my books. To every bookseller who hand-sells my books. To everyone who tells their friends to read my books or loans their copies out or buys my books as gifts. Seriously. I am deeply, deeply grateful to each and every one of you, and I feel like I really need to say that.

So, thank you. There are some really awful parts of being a writer, but you all are one of the things that make it worthwhile.

I accidentally* stayed up til 2.30 reading Corambis when I got it, when had work the next day. And then I did the same thing rereading it Thursday (once to find out what happens, twice to see how it happens, third time because you know what's going to happen and enjoy seeing it all come together).

I love reading and I read a huge amount, good, bad and indifferent, for different reasons and to get different things out of them.. Your books are ones that make me talky, that make me lend them to friends so we can talk about them. I like reading them again, dipping in to them or binging on them and having them in my head. So I don't know how much you'll get from this, but I have one paperback, three hardbacks and The Bone Key on my shelves or with (trusted!) friends, and in terms of cost to hours of enjoyment, they're one of the best investments I've made.

*At least, I mean, I only meant to dip in before I went to sleep, then I looked up and it was 2.30, but by that time I was close enough to the end that I figured I might as well finish.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does the 3 times through thing!

Um, well, I'm on my re-read of "Corambis" too - and managed to read much longer last night than I'd planned to. I just could NOT stop. And it certainly won't be my last re-read, after all I read the other three books roughly five times each.
I'm also very glad to know I'm not the only one.

So, in response to # 3 - thank you so much for writing these amazing books, and for making me do silly things like reading way into the night, buying hardcover books, re-reading the books over and over again! I made my best friend read the books too, just to have someone to TALK to and she also loved them. My partner has read "Mélusine" and "The Virtu" and will read the other books at some point too.
